CMSgt William Homer Montieth passed away in Spokane, Washington on March 3, 2013 at the age of 85. Monty was born May 23, 1927 in Glenville, North Carolina. Serving in the Air force for 30 years, he retired in San Antonio, Texas, where he lived until 2009. He then moved to Spokane, WA, to be near family. Monty packed a lot of living in his life. He loved softball, horseshoes, and camping. He graduated from SWTSU after retiring. He and Janice taught dancing for 25 years in round dance clubs; the Funtastics and the Butterfly, as well as square danced since 1964. He and Janice traveled a lot visiting family and friends. He worked as a long time volunteer at Wilford Hall Medical Center. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Janice; son, Thomas (Sue) Montieth; daughter, Wendy (Rick) Edwards; sisters, Doris Sharpton, June Mannos, and Avis Long. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jessica Cary, Sean Montieth, Ryan Edwards, and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Linville Montieth; mother, Ellen Bryson Montieth; brother, Robert Denver Montieth; and sister, Agnes Folowell.
