William H Seaver

November 18, 1913 - November 28, 2014

SEAVER, William Henry William Henry Seaver was born in Millinocket, Maine on November 18, 1913 and passed away on November 28, 2014 at the Veterans Home in Spokane, Washington at 101 years old. Bill was preceded in death by Ruth Melba Seaver, his beloved wife of 68+ years. Ruth, a graduate of Boston's School of Nursing, was born in Somerville, Massachusetts on August 16, 1920 and passed on at home November 6, 2011 in Spokane, Washington. They are survived by their four children: Robin Crane, Judith Baker, David Seaver and Sally Crawford along with Paul and Timothy Yeun, who came to live with them during their high school years. They are also survived by ten grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren sprinkled around the world. Bill received a B.S. in Pharmacy at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and later a Masters in Education at Boston University. Bill served as a Warrant Officer in the U.S. Army during the administration of both Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry S. Truman. During World War II, Bill used his pharmaceutical expertise in testing the drinking water aboard ships going in and out of New York harbor on their way to Europe. For this, he received an accommodation for his contribution towards the war effort for his devising of the chlorinating apparatus to test the water. Later, as well as working as a pharmacist in the evenings, for many years, he served as the principal/administrator of three Christian schools k-12 to advance Christian education. During this time he also taught several high school classes. Bill retired as a pharmacist at the age of 74 but continued teaching high school until he was 85. Ruth, in addition to being a homemaker, was for several years a dedicated hospice nurse. The enduring legacies that Bill and Ruth left were their love for each other, love of family, love for God and compassion for others. The location of Bill and Ruth's headstone is located in the Seaver family plot at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, in Arlington, Massachusetts. Memorial remembrance will be within family. - See more at: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/spokesman/obituary.aspx?n=william-henry-seaver&pid=173392791&fhid=12347#sthash.uFTA0Hri.dpuf
