Wilbur Allen Mitchell

April 14, 1934 - October 05, 2015

Wilbur Allen Mitchell entered into eternal life on October 5, 2015 at Hospice House North in Spokane, WA, as a result of diabetes and acute renal failure. Willy was born in Wenatchee, WA on April 14, 1934 to Homer and Fern Mitchell, and spent his teen years in the Wenatchee area. He was the youngest of four brothers. Willy retired from Centennial Mills in Spokane, where he had worked as a millworker for 38 years. As an avid outdoorsman, he loved observing all wildlife, and had a great passion for hunting and fishing with his sons. Willy also enjoyed attending his grandchildren's sports events, and stepson Shelby's Special Olympics activities. He had a great relationship with his father-in-law, Joe Vallejo, with whom he cruised to Alaska. Both Willy and Joe enjoyed years of morning get-togethers with buddies for coffee and conversation. A man of high integrity, Willy was always looking for opportunities to help others, and had a great love for his family. Willy is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Billie; four children, Wilbur (Vickie), Richard, Delores Siebold (Don), and Lynn Neubauer (Hans); 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Shelby Smith and Georgiann Lindsley (Samaya); brothers Homer (Theda) and Marvin (Pat), plus many other extended family members. Willy was predeceased by his parents; brother, Robert; grandson, Shane; and his children's mother, Orzetta. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 in the Sunset Chapel at Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 West Wellesley Avenue at 2:00 p.m. Wilbur will be greatly missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Hospice of Spokane or Special Olympics.
