Walter Ted Ogilvie

August 19, 1942 - November 08, 2016

Ted was born on August 19, 1942 to John and Violet (Freemire) Ogilvie in Wenatchee, WA. He passed away on November 8, 2016 at home in Spokane Valley, WA. Ted served in the US Navy from 1960 1963. He served on the U.S.S Point Defiance and was Honorably discharged. He married Joan Olson Erhart on August 20, 2005 in Reno, Nevada. He attended high school and graduated, class of 1960, in Republic, WA. Ted lived in Chewelah, WA for 40 years. While there, he worked for the City Water Department, was a volunteer firefighter for 27 years, as well as a volunteer EMT, first responder, and driver for Chewelah Ambulance for 30 years. Ted was an avid woodworker; he was especially well known for his benches. He worked in the shop up until 2 weeks before his passing. He would deny it, but was also a big Seahawks fan. Ted attended Springdale Community Church where he was baptized by Sonny Pastor Clemmer just a few months ago. Ted was a lifetime member of the VFW, charter member of American Legion in Chewelah. He loved God and his country. Ted is survived by his spouse; Joan Ogilvie at home in Spokane Valley; his sons Paul Ogilvie of Prescott Valley, AZ, Allan Olson (Emily) of Kirkland, WA, Josh Olson of Chewelah, WA; daughters Debbie Perdue of Seattle, WA, Jacki Lindsey (Chad) of Medical Lake, WA, Jessica Olson of Kasilof, AK; his brother Jack Ogilvie (Charlene) of Spokane Valley; his sister Karen Leinen (John) of Palm Springs, CA; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace Albin. Memorial contributions may be made to Horizon Hospice, 123 W Cascade Way, Spokane, WA 99208. A memorial service will be held at the American Legion Hall in Chewelah on November 20, 2016 at 2:00 PM.
