Retired Senior Chief Walter Kolasch, 73, died peacefully at the Guardian Angles Homes, in Liberty Lake January 30, 2018. Walter Kolasch was born in Aberdeen, SD to John and Freida Kolasch. He married his wife, Mona, of 49 years in 1968. He retired as a Senior Chief from the U.S. Navy in 1989 after 20 years. Following his military service, he continued to work for the U.S. Postal Service for an additional 20 years in Spokane, Washington. He is survived by his wife, Mona; daughters and sons-in-law, Michelle and Brian Hodgson, Tina and Aric Trantum; daughter Denise Kolasch; his son, Dennis Kolasch; his five grandchildren Zachary, Jarod, Jakob, Ashley and Dallas; sister Darlene Dwyer, and numerous other nieces and nephews. A funeral is scheduled for Monday, February 5, 2018 at 2:15 pm at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. A small gathering will take place following the service at the home of Mona Kolasch to celebrate Walter’s life. The family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and the staff of the Guardian Angles Homes in Liberty Lake for their great compassion in caring for Walter.
