Timothy “Tim” Leo McCabe, a 74-year-old resident of Spokane, Washington, peacefully departed this world on June 11, 2026, in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his cherished family. Born in Kellogg, Idaho, on November 13, 1951, Tim was the son of Lawrence and Eleanor McCabe. In 1959, the McCabe family relocated to Spokane. Tim attended St. Aloysius Elementary and graduated from Gonzaga Prep in 1970.Tim’s first professional job was as a foreman for the deboning crew at the HyGrade Meat Packing Plant. However, after the plant’s closure in 1976, Tim transitioned into sales, dedicating himself to the meat industry. His warm smile, extensive knowledge of the industry, and exceptional customer service made him an invaluable resource. In the history of the meat industry in the Inland Northwest, there has never been, and never will be, another individual like Tim McCabe. He was universally regarded as a go-to person; whenever anyone had a question, they would simply call Tim, and he would provide the answer. Tim served on the Northwest Meat Processors Association board of directors as a supplier director and was a dedicated member of the Montana Meat Processors Association. Tim cherished the role of barbecue master. He didn’t need a particular occasion to light the smoker—it could be for family dinners, birthday parties, or simply unwinding on a Sunday. Tim found joy in the everyday moments, like spending time with his family and friends. He didn’t need much money; what truly mattered was the time he spent with those he loved. His life’s purpose was to be a loving family member and a faithful friend. Tim is survived by his children from his first marriage: Tammy (Dave), Christine (Jeff), Tim “Timmer” (Deanna); grandchildren; Jesse, Cody, Blake, and Carter; great-granddaughter: Savanna. He was preceded in death by his second wife of 37 years, Michele; his parents, Lawrence Michael McCabe and Eleanor Stelma McCabe, and his brother, Gerald Joseph McCabe. At Tim’s request, a private service will be held at a later date. We offer a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Horizon Hospice & Palliative Care. We are grateful for your time, care, and compassion.

Tim was a very kind man. He was friendly and helpful to me in all my years of business. I could always count on Tim. My sincere sympathy to his family. Bill Egger
