July 13, 1924 - February 09, 2016
Tom Larson died on February 9, 2016. He was born in Willmar, Minnesota in 1924. He had one brother, Don, who predeceased him. After high school he attended college for one year and then enlisted in the Army. Before deployment, he married his high school sweetheart, Alice, with whom he had three daughters, Bev Hodge, Marilyn (Bob) Larson, and Kaye (Art) Cole. He was eventually remarried, to Bonnie McDonald. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by two granddaughters, one grandson, two great granddaughters, one great great grandson, his sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. During the war he was stationed in Saipan, and the few survivors of his unit formed lifelong friendships. They called themselves the Sad Sacks and with their wives often met for reunions. He was the last of them. He was successful in his career with the Great Northern, later Burlington Northern Railroad, receiving several promotions along the way. His family was very important to him until his last days. He will be remembered as a man who had a great sense of humor, always ready with a joke and smile. He will be greatly missed. A private memorial will be held at a future date. We would like to extend our appreciation to Hospice of Spokane and the staff at Brookdale, who provided excellent and compassionate care.
