Sidney C Austin

January 03, 1948 - December 13, 2019

Sidney was born January 3rd, 1948 in Roswell NM and died December 13, 2019. He is survived by his brother Aulty Austin with wife Pat, his brother Charles Austin, his daughter Andrea Austin, and his former wife and best friend of 54 years Marsha Austin-Barstad. He graduated from North Central High School in 1967 and from there he enlisted in the Army and did two tours in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot (’67-’71). Afterwards, he drove a bus for Greyhound for 20 years and then moved to trucking until retirement. Sidney did not enjoy sitting still in retirement and returned to driving. He spent his later years driving tour buses for Alpha Omega where enjoyed having passengers again. He loved his job as a tour bus driver and loved his passengers. He was most proud when he received compliments and kind notes. He cherished every one of them. He would often talk about how glad he was when a group would request him as their driver. Sid had a kind heart and would help anybody in need. He was happiest when other were happy and never spoke ill of another person, choosing to always see the best in people. He may have called himself anti-social, but everyplace he went, everyone liked Sid. He never met an animal who didn’t love him, and he loved them all back Even after the divorce, Marsha and Sidney remained best friends. They talked every day and saw each other every day that Sidney was in town. We are all hurting. In lieu of gifts or flowers, the Sidney Austin Memorial Fund has been set up on the Gofundme website, donations of any kind are deeply appreciated. https://www.gofundme.com/f/sidney-austin-memorial-fund?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link&utm_campaign=p_cf+share-flow-1
