Shirley Agnes Dempsey

August 03, 1934 - January 25, 2017

Shirley Dempsey, 82, died January 25, 2017, with her family by her side at Deaconess Hospital in Spoken WA after a short illness. - At her request, no service will be held. - Shirley was born August 3, 1934 in Montreal, Quebec, to Andrew and Agnes Bennett. - Shirley moved to California as a young wife and mother in 1956. When her marriage ended, she made the decision to remain in California and raise her three daughters. She later met and then married John (Kenny) Dempsey on March 11, 1972; they were married 44 years. In 1988, Shirley and Kenny relocated to Okanogan WA to be closer to family and friends. Shirley began her professional career at Dun & Bradstreet in Montreal. Upon her arrival in Los Angeles, she began a career in banking that lasted two decades before retiring as the first female Branch Manager at Century Federal Savings and Loan Association in Brentwood CA. She is survived by her beloved husband, Kenny and leaves to cherish her memory daughters Kathryn (John) McClure, St. Augustine FL; Sharon (Bill) Moore, Pensacola FL; Barbara Lavender, Hemet CA; step-daughter Robin Dempsey, Tehachapi CA; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Shirley is further survived by nieces, nephews, and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clifford and Russell; son-in-law Jeff Lavender; and step-daughter Susan Kepford.
