Shawn Robert Smith, 34, of Spokane, Washington, passed away on April 6th, 2026. He was born on March 26th, 1992, in Spokane at Holy Family Hospital to Tina Smith.
Shawn was a true jack of all trades who took pride in his ability to learn anything he set his mind to. He was known for his strong work ethic, sharp intellect, and unwavering commitment to his beliefs. A self-proclaimed (and widely accepted) master debater, Shawn never missed an opportunity to stop and spark a lively debate with just about anyone. He carried a contagious laugh, a bold personality, and a deep love for his family. Above all, Shawn held a strong faith in Jesus and did his best to live each day according to His word.
He enjoyed a wide range of hobbies, including politics, modern technology, history, comedy, hiking, snowboarding, and huckleberry picking, always finding joy in the outdoors and in learning something new. As a child, Shawn was active in sports, breakdancing, and karate. His favorite song growing up was “I Love You Always Forever” by Donna Lewis, a tune that stayed close to his heart through the years.
During his teenage years, Shawn was spirited and independent, often found surrounded by friends and living life on his own terms. He became a father to his son Brayden Robert and faced struggles with addiction on and off during his life, battles he met with both challenge and perseverance.
In adulthood, Shawn made a life-changing move to California before leaving to attend YWAM in Salem, Oregon, where he completed their ministry program. During this time, he married Autumn Smith and welcomed two daughters, Grace and Madelyn Smith. Although they went their separate ways, his love to his children never wavered.
Shawn eventually returned to Spokane, where he worked hard to rebuild his life. He reconnected with his life partner, Kimberly Dalton, and became a devoted father figure to her daughter Sophia. Together, they welcomed two more children, Elijah and Gabriella. Shawn poured his time into volunteering at Adult Teen Challenge, investing in his spiritual family, and continuing his walk with Christ. He was a good father, deeply committed to being present for his family, growing his connection with his children, and continuing to grow in faith.
Shawn is survived by his grandparents, Mary Smith, Bob Smith, and Lois Connery; his mother, Tina Smith; his step dad, Earl Connery; his uncles, Steve and Bobby Smith; his life partner, Kimberly Dalton; his siblings, Robin Smith, Makayla Hatfield, Mason McCreight, and Jeremy McCoy; and his children, Brayden Robidoux, Sophia Dalton, Grace Smith, Madelyn Smith, Elijah Smith, and Gabriella Smith.
He was preceded in death by his father, William McCreight.
Shawn will be remembered for his quick wit, his unmistakable laugh, his passion for a good debate, and the deep love he carried for his family and his faith. His story was one of resilience, growth, and unwavering devotion, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
