Jerry passed away in Spokane, WA., one day after his 88th birthday. He was born in Spokane, WA., the only child to Lewis Van Sickle and Olevia Davis. Jerry graduated from North Central High School in 1947 and subsequently met his sweetheart, Annabelle Lee Hanson while she was working at the Fox Theater downtown. They were married on June 27, 1951, in Tombstone, AZ., where he was stationed in the Army. They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Jerry and Ann returned to Spokane where their 3 children were born: Douglas, Valerie, and Janet. Jerry was a very successful General Contractor in the Seattle area where he built many homes. He also owned a trucking and excavation company specializing in commercial construction. Upon his "retirement" in 1994, Jerry and Ann returned to Spokane where he continued to build more homes. He was a natural leader in civic positions as well as his church. Among the civic positions Jerry held were PTA President; Sheriff in the Kootenai County Sheriff Posse; Commodore of the Spokane Boat Club; President of the Kootenai County Saddle Club; President of the 4-H Club; Cub Master; Lions Club President; Member of the Elks Club and Manager of the Coeur d'Alene Fairgrounds. Some of Jerry's church callings were Scout Committee Chairman, Sunday School President, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leader, and Ordinance Worker in the Seattle Temple--his favorite. Jerry was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jerry had a love for outdoor activities, which included fishing, boating, hunting, camping, horseback riding and snowmobiling. He had numerous antique and classic cars and a vast collection of tools. He always said, "If I don't have it, they didn't make it." His parents preceded Jerry in death. He is survived by his loving wife, Ann; his 3 children, Doug (Spokane), Valerie Hutchison (Spokane), and Janet Nelson (Alpine, Utah); 2 sons-in-law; 11 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. Our husband, father, and grandfather will be truly missed. You are our hero. We love you dearly. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 30, 2016, 10:00AM, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Spokane Stake Center, 401 W. Regina Ave., Spokane, WA. Interment will be at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, Washington.
