GELLNER, Sandra (Sandy) Kay (Lee)

Sandy passed away January 10, 2026 at the age of 81, after a courageous 4-month battle with cancer. Sandy was born in Spokane on March 10, 1944 to Robert V. and Zilpha L Lee and has lived most of her life in Spokane. During her sophomore year in high school (Lewis & Clark) her family moved to California where she graduated from DeAnza High School in El Sobrante, CA. After graduation Sandy went on to Athena Beauty School in Berkeley and received her State License. She was a beautician up until she married Dewey Mayer and had her two daughters and was lucky enough to be able to stay home with them for a while. After her divorce from Dewey, she held some interesting jobs before moving back to Spokane to raise her girls. Sandy went to work for Farm Credit Bank in Spokane where she worked for 22 years before retiring. The many friends she made at Farm Credit still mean the world to her. While working at Farm Credit she married Don Gellner and enjoyed 20 years of bowling, golfing and card playing with Don and family. After her divorce from Don, she went to work at The Spokesman Review in Advertising and retired from there after 17 years. Sandy enjoyed people and made many friends wherever she was and took great pride in her cooking, golfing, bunco, but mostly her wonderful children and grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her daughters; Tina Solomon (John) and Tracie Meidl (Craig), her six grandchildren; Colin Ward (Brandon), Chris Ward (Michaela), Kaitlyn Ward, Derek Solomon, Matthew Meidl and Emma Meidl, her sister; Linda Wolf, Sister-in-law; Verna Lee, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Robert and Zilpha Lee, her brother, Bob Lee and her aunts and uncles on both sides of her family. Her presence on this earth was the glue to our family and friends and she will be missed by everyone who knew her. Sandy requested a cremation and a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 24th, at Noon, at Sunset Chapel in Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane, Washington.
