November 26, 1951 - November 30, 2020
After complications from an exhausting battle with cancer, Sally Ann Murphy (Edgerly) (Age 69) entered eternal rest finding comfort in the Glory of Heaven November 30th, 2020. Days before, she celebrated her birthday with her adoring husband and was blessed to be with all three of her children who she loved greatly. Known for her warm smile and ready embrace, Sally was a bright light to all. Born and raised in the Spokane Valley, she proudly introduced herself as “Sally from the Valley”. On Sunday’s you could find Sally with her husband, Randy, in their usual seat worshiping with their church family at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene, were she was greatly involved throughout her life. Sally graduated from Ferris High School, where she found her passion for floral design and sewing. She continued to use her artistic talents in floral design to add cheer and holiday spirit decorating the church. Sally also owned and operated her floral and sewing business, Sally’s Silk n’Sew, creating beautiful floral arrangements, wedding design, and masterful seamstress work. She attended Northwest Nazarene College. Ultimately returning to Spokane, Sally proudly served as a school cook for Central Valley nutrition services for 35 years, retiring in 2019. Beyond serving students a warm meal she always offered a cheerful smile and words of encouragement. She was very involved in the Washington School Nutrition Association throughout her career, advocating for access to nutrition for all students, and serving as the president of the Washington School Nutrition Association for a short time. She was a regular attendee of the annual meetings where she was well known for her vibrant costumes each year, including her famous ‘Tornado from the Wizard of Oz’ costume. On many nights, Sally enjoyed supporting the GSL events by taking tickets for events while cheering on her C.V. Bears. Though her line usually moved the slowest, it was always because she took time to greet everyone she knew with a warm hug and a heartfelt hello, and of course catching everyone up on the latest. Above all, Sally loved spending time with her family and friends, enjoying the lakes and campgrounds throughout the pacific northwest including most recently camping and boating at Deer Lake. Her greatest pride was watching her three children grow and have families of their own. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Randy Murphy and children Julie (William) Woodring, Eric (Jaclyn) Murphy, and Chrissy (Seif Mahmoud) Osborne, and grandchildren Hayden Arnold, Ethan Arnold, Anna (Zach) Balcom, Rebecca Murphy, Cayla Murphy, Arianna Osborne, Tyler Murphy, Matthew Osborne and Logan Woodring, her brothers Ken (Judy) Edgerly and David (Dawn) Edgerly and many nieces and nephews, her mother-in-law Carol Hartman, brother-in-law Duane Murphy and sister in law Darci Gustafson and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Juanita Edgerly, brother Daniel Edgerly and other extended relatives. Sally will be dearly missed by so many. Rest in peace sweet Wife, Mom, Grandma, Sister, Aunt, and dear friend. We look forward to a proper celebration of life when it is safe to do so. Condolences can be sent to P.O. BOX 695 Colbert WA 99005.
