Ruth Evelyn Headstrom, 98, passed away peacefully Friday, December 22, 2017 at Good Samaritan in Spokane Valley, Washington. She was born on June 16, 1919 in Anaconda, Montana to Carl A. and Sigrid Carlson. She married the love of her life, George Headstrom, on October 8, 1938 in Spokane Washington, where they raised their family. They were married for 48 happy years until Georges death in 1986. Ruth was very active in several clubs and groups. She was a member of a bridge group that met for 60 years. This group shared her love of traveling, and the group, along with their spouses, traveled the world. Other clubs she was a member of include the Vasa Swedish Club, the Wandermere Womens Golf Club, and the Esmeralda Womens Golf Club. She loved the many summer gatherings of her family and extended family over the years to Hills Resort at Priest Lake and Spirit Lake, both in Idaho and later at Sun River, Oregon. She also enjoyed playing golf, gardening, sewing, reading, cooking, and volunteering. She volunteered regularly for 25 years at Deaconess Hospital in both the surgical waiting room and the gift shop. She was known for her wonderful smile, her kindness and her sweetness. Her greatest love was her family and the time she could spend with them. Ruth is preceded in death by her mother, Sigrid Carlson, and her father, Carl A. Carlson, her husband, George Headstrom, and her brothers and sisters, Carl E. Carlson, Agnes McGrath, June Powell, and Stanley Carlson. She is survived by her children, Linda Peck, Robert Headstrom (Kathy), Janice McMillen (Jim), and by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. A memorial for Ruth will be held at Good Samaritan Society, 17121 E 8th Ave, Spokane Valley, WA 99016 on Saturday, December 30th at 2:00pm.
