Robert Leon Benthagen, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2025.
Robert was born on December 2, 1938, and raised on a rural farm in northern Minnesota. A proud graduate of his local high school, he went on to serve his country with honor as a member of the United States Army for four years. Following his military service, Robert relocated to California, where he raised his family and pursued a long and successful career in the television and film industry as an electrical and equipment maintenance engineer. Upon retirement, he and his wife made their home in Spokane Valley, Washington.

On July 18, 1964, Robert was united in marriage to Jean Ann (Schwahn), with whom he shared sixty years of love, devotion, and partnership. Together they raised two children, Jay Benthagen (Yesi)Â and Roxann Fagetter (Craig).
Robert loved tending to his yard and garden, taking great pride in his lawn and plants. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching western movies and shows, listening to opera, jazz, and classic country music, and occasionally visiting a casino for a friendly game of Texas Hold’em. In retirement, he discovered a passion for woodworking, crafting furniture and decorative pieces that reflected his skill and patience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sander and Olga (Klevgaard) Benthagen; his brothers Omar and Wesley; and his sisters Marianne and Elizabeth (Betty).
Robert will remembered for his quiet nature and the unwavering love he shared with his wife and family.
