June 11, 1941 - February 18, 2017

STRASBURG, Robert E. Jr. "Bob" - (Age 75) On February 18, 2017 Bob courageously lost his battle with Pancreatic cancer. Bob was born on June 11, 1941 to Robert and Roberta Strasburg in Kalispell, MT. At age 11, the family moved to Spokane, WA. Robert and his twin sister Roberta served in the Civil Air Patrol while attending high school. So, after graduating from Mead High School in 1960, Bob joined the Air Force. While stationed in Altus, OK, he came home on leave to marry his sweetheart Kaye Gifford. After Bob served four years in the military, they moved back to Spokane, WA, where they made their home and raised their two daughters, Udawna and DeAnna. Bob worked at Kaiser Aluminum for a few years and then for the rest of his career as a floor covering installer. Bob volunteered as a firefighter for the Morgan Acres Fire District beginning in 1987, and later elected as a Fire Commissioner for District 9 until 2011. He enjoyed his time with the fire department and was very committed to it . He was a caregiver for many years to his wife and later to others. Bob found being a caregiver very rewarding. He faithfully served his church where ever he was needed. After Kaye's death in 2012, Bob married long time friend Diane Hardesty in 2014. Bob and Diane really enjoyed their honeymoon cruise with special friends, Don and Wyoma Hersey. Bob loved going to the farm that has been in Diane's family for generations. Their time together was not long enough, but was filled with joy and a deep love for each other. - Bob is survived by his daughters, Udawna and DeAnna Kole (Philip), and grandchildren Kyle Strasburg, Marisa and Christopher Kole, siblings Roberta Smith (Gordon), Jim Strasburg (Sue), Rich Strasburg (Di), Helen McGarvin (Jim), Linda Smith (Chuck), and Bill Strasburg, and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by sisters Rose Cook and Ruth Rasmussen. Bob will also be missed by Diane's children (Vicki, Glenda, Loren, and Bethany) and all who knew him. - A memorial service will be held at Fellowship Church (corner of Crestline and Everett) on Saturday, March 4th at 11:00 am. The family wishes to thank Horizon Hospice for their amazing support and care.
