Richard Garrison, beloved husband, father & grandfather, unexpectedly passed into the arms of Jesus. Born in Sandpoint Id to Tilford & Nellie Garrison, he attended Sandpoint High school and worked as a lifeguard and with the Forest Service at a fire lookout tower. He loved the outdoors & swimming his entire life. He left Sandpoint to serve in the US Navy as a parachute packer & oxygen specialist during the Korean War on aircraft carriers Yorktown & Valley Forge. Richard married the love of his life, Celia Marie Mullenix, from Deer Park during the final year of his service. They have been happily married for over 60 years and moved to Spokane to raise their 4 children Deborah, Rick, Sandra & Greg, their youngest son, who went home to be with the Lord last year. Together they have 8 grandchildren & 10 great-grandchildren, who will all miss him dearly. Richard worked at Kaiser Aluminum before starting his own business. He was very talented & creative and owned & operated A & A Quality Upholstery until he retired. His skillful work is a legacy enjoyed and treasured by many. He was a caring and compassionate man who loved the Lord and will be remembered for his many hugs, smile and childlike way he enjoyed life. He loved spending time at their river property that they built to enjoy with family. He used his talents on many mission trips and was a member of Whitworth Church for over 50 years. He served as deacon for many years and was past president of Country Homes Kiwanis. You are invited to a memorial celebrating his life. It will be held on Thursday, September 17th at 11 AM at Whitworth Church. Per the family’s request donations may be made to the Deacon’s fund at the church or the Union Gospel Mission.
