BOOZER, Rex H. (age 90) - Rex Hillery Boozer was born on July 27, 1924 and passed away on February 24, 2015. He was adopted at six months of age, by Dolph and Alva Boozer, and was raised on a farm near Valleyford, WA. After graduating from Lindberg High School in 1942, Rex joined the Army Air Force to train as a Pilot in the P38 aircraft. While stationed near Chico, California, he met the love of his life, Claire Adelle Catlett, working behind the candy counter of the movie theatre her stepfather owned. They corresponded while he was stationed on the island of Attu, off the coast of Alaska. When he returned, they were married on December 21, 1945. Rex finished his enlistment and, when he was discharged, they settled in a little house on the same farm where he was raised. When Dolph passed away they moved into the big house, where they raised their son, Gary, and daughter, Kay. Rex had a farmer’s heart, loved the land and took great pride in his fields. Later they moved into a “new” home not far from the original farm, having had enough of the remodeling and upkeep on the old place. They greatly enjoyed travel, fishing, golf and their farm. Rex is survived by his wife, Claire; his son, Gary, and wife Tonya; daughter Kay, and husband Danny; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Rex will be honored with a military burial at the Washington State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Spokane or Honor Flight. Community Cremation & Funeral Spokane Valley - 13127 E.
