Phyllis Marlene (Whittaker) Avery (Age 85) passed away after a long illness on July 28, 2018. She was born to John J. and Gladys Whittaker on April 9, 1933 in Usk, WA. The family moved to Cusic, Vancouver, and Spokane, WA where she attended Rogers High School. She married Richard Avery August 4, 1950. They were childhood friends, fell in love and married. Subsequently, they raised 4 daughters followed by 8 grandkids, 6 great-grandkids and 2 great-great grand babies. She worked various jobs, with 18 years at Deaconess Hospital in central service. She and Richard retired and traveled to Europe with their Kiwanis friends, after which they bought a motor home and had the Arizona experience. Phyllis is preceded in death by her daughter, Connie Avery. She is survived by her husband Richard A. Avery, daughters; Bonnie Hall of Deer Park, Loretta Avery of Spokane, and Lorrie Enwall, of Woodenville. A Memorial Service will be held at Sunset Chapel, inside Fairmount Memorial Park, at 11 AM Saturday August 4, 5200 W. Wellesley. Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of Spokane in her name.
