Patricia Anne Dunning

 

     Patricia Dunning passed away on September 20, 2026 in Spokane Valley, WA.  She was born in Wenatchee, WA on October 14, 1936 to Frank and Dorothy Thomas.  She attended the University of Washington and later studied early childhood education at Edmonds Community College.  She worked in North Seattle as an award-winning preschool teacher. She married Al Dunning in 1964.  She was an amazing and courageous mother; always supportive of her children.

     Patricia’s family remembers her for her hundreds of scarves, all the schnauzers she loved throughout her life, the endless and sometimes wonderfully random gifts from QVC, her cookies and old-fashioned donuts.  She was an avid tole painter.  Patricia always rooted for the Seahawks.  She was a person of deep faith, having most recently participated in Ridgeview Christian Church.  She and Al spent many hours decorating and hosting family for holiday gatherings.

     Patricia was preceded in death by her parents; siblings William Thomas and Robert Thomas; husband Al Dunning; step-daughter Karen Dunning; and granddaughter Marisa Dell Lowe.  She is survived by her children Brenda Woods, Kevin Dunning, Susan Smith, and John Dunning; step-daughter Gayle Harris; numerous grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

     A graveside committal service will be held at Spokane Memorial Gardens, 5909 Cheney-Spokane Rd, Spokane, WA, on October 23, 2026 at 11:00 AM.
