Norma Louise Brown - March 18, 1931 November 12, 2016 - Norma was the daughter of Marvin Alva Davis and Helen Alice Parker. Her mother passed away at her birth. She was adopted by the Brown family of Coeur dAlene and was raised by Mary (ne Brown) and Billy Blackwell. Norma demonstrated an early love of music and was encouraged in the development of her talent. She attended Coeur dAlene High School where she met her future husband, Ervin. She studied at Whitworth College and the University of Idahoearning a Bachelor of Music degreefollowed by graduate studies in music at Whitworth College. She married Ervin Brown in 1952. After living in Seattle and Fort Dix, they settled in the Spokane Valley where Ervin practiced dentistry. Norma loved her own and supported her three children without reservation in all things in music and in life. She was a gifted musician, taught piano privately for many years, and nurtured the musical talents of her children. She was an avid reader, independent thinker, and a passionate painter and gardener. Norma will be remembered for her extraordinary sweetness and gentle, loving and kind heart. She was predeceased by Norman Brown (Daddy), brother, Stuart Blackwell, and husband Ervin Brown. Norma is survived by sister, Rosemary Brandvold, children, Jeremy (Lisa) of Calgary, Alberta, Eric (Donna) of Spokane, Heidi (Jeff) of Seattle, and grandsons, Bailen and Zach. Special thanks to the staff of Brookdale Park Place in the Spokane Valley for their many years of loving care for Norma, and to Jessica, Kay, Brenda, Maria and Joyce of Kindred Hospice for their compassion and support. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 18 at the Pines Mausoleum1402 S Pines Road. Viewing begins at 12pm followed by a service at 1pm.
