December 31, 1945 - January 10, 2021
Norma was born on December 31, 1945 in Ashland, Ohio to Ralph and Dorothy (LaPlante) Kauffman and passed away in Spokane January 10, 2021 of heart failure, 10 days after achieving her goal of reaching her 75th birthday. She is probably singing her favorite hymns with her beautiful soprano voice. While still young, the family moved to Southern California, where Norma grew up and graduated from high school. She worked in bookkeeping, payroll and accounting, office administration, a nursery, was a nanny to two young girls, and volunteered in the office of the church she attended. Norma enjoyed playing Bingo. Some of her hobbies included crafting and ceramics. Her favorites were crocheting and knitting. She recently completed crocheting scarves and afghans for several grand- and great-nieces and nephews who were thrilled to get them and will cherish her labor of love for each for them. Though living with health issues for many years, she lived independently most of her life. When weather permitted, she would drive her power wheelchair to the Valley Wal Mart, Fred Meyer or Walgreen’s. Norma was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Beulah, two brothers-in-law, a nephew, several aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is survived by sisters Sandra, Virginia, Joyce (Frank). Brothers George (Alvena) and David (Maryann), and “adopted” daughter Mary (Randy). As well as granddaughter Jordan, Aunt Violet, several cousins, nieces, nephews and their families. We thank Moran Vista Assisted Living for making her life more enjoyable these past six months,. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Mroch, whose skill and continued care enabled her to live much longer than expected. Special thanks to her niece, Teri and Teri’s husband Richard, for being there for her and helping her as needed over the past few years.
