Norene Lucille Lemon, of Spokane, WA, passed away on May 11, 2021 due to complications from open heart surgery the week before. Daughter of the late John and Lucille Schuller, Norene was born in Cleveland, OH. on June 2, 1948. She graduated from Parma High School in 1966, and went on to earn a degree later in life from Olivet Nazarene University in Schaumburg, IL. Norene married Gary Lemon on November 16, 1991 in Denver, CO. They moved to Chicago, IL. in 1993, settling in the Barrington area. She worked as a private secretary at Echo Inc. until her retirement in 2014. They eventually decided to move to Spokane to spend their retirement and to be closer to Gary’s family. They were married 26 years until his passing in October, 2017 of a heart attack. Norene filled her days by enjoying her favorite hobbies, including gardening, antiquing with her friend Linda Lee Kershner, and taking care of her beloved pooches, Cooper and Sadie. She also frequently made trips to the local casino, “donating” her money along with her friend Jessie. She is survived by her brother, Raymond Schuller (s. Louise Schuller), sisters Sandra Pierce (s. Ted Koestar, deceased) Sharon Peake (s. Stanley Peake, deceased), nieces Ruth Peake (s. Tom Vitantonio), Carole Stojetz (s. David Stojetz) Laurie Mertens (s. Sam Mertens), Roberta Ostis (s. Ron Ostis), Rebecca Peake (f. Tom Ploetz), and one nephew, Mark Peake. She also leaves behind Gary’s daughter, Amelia Campbell (s. Dave Campbell) and sister-in-law, Sally Stevens (s. Steve Trout). Norene’s ashes will be laid to rest with Gary’s on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 10:30 am at Washington State Veteran’s Cemetery. Due to covid restrictions, please advise if you plan on attending the service by emailing Ruth Peake (red350@sbcglobal.net). A face mask will be required while in the cemetery and the service will take place outside.
