Nancy Rose Fairburn

Nancy R. Fairburn (Gift) (Age 89) passed away quietly at home on September 10, 2017. She was born in Allentown, PA to Howard and Elizabeth Gift on April 4, 1928. She attended Wittenberg College in Springfield, OH where she met the love of her life, Don Fairburn. They married in 1950 and settled in Allentown where their two daughters were born. The family was transferred to Spokane, WA where their son was born. As her last child entered school, Nancy went to Whitworth College for her Masters Degree. Upon graduation, she went to work for Head Start, first as a teacher and then as Education Coordinator. She then went to work as an instructor in Early Childhood Education at Spokane Falls Community College. Upon retirement, she and Don travelled between Arizona and Mexico in their 5th wheel. They also traveled to Europe, and Nancy took a trip of a lifetime to China with her sister in law. When travelling was no longer possible Don and Nancy moved to Portland, OR to be near their children and grandchildren. When Don passed away from lung cancer, Nancy moved in with her daughter Andrea. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Larry and sister in law Pattie. She is survived by her daughter Andrea Jensen, daughter and son in law; Jane and Gary Fields, son and daughter in law; Donald and Brenda Fairburn, grandson and his wife; Kyle and Robyn Fairburn, granddaughter Kayla Fairburn and great grandson Owen Fairburn. Inurnment Service will be Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 am in the Holy Cross Cemetery Chapel, 7200 N. Wall, Spokane, WA 99208. In lieu of flowers please donate to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.
