December 21, 1938 – June 5, 2026

Marv Iverson lived life the way most people only hope to, fully, joyfully, and surrounded by the people he loved. His commitment to creating memories, seeking out experiences, and keeping the people around him close was not something he stumbled into; it was simply who he was, to his core.

Marvin “Marv” Iverson, 87, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2026. He was born December 21, 1938, in Salmon, Idaho, to Leo and Delores Iverson, and grew up in the close-knit small towns of northeastern Washington, graduating from Kettle Falls High School in 1957. It was in nearby Northport where he would meet the love of his life, Tresa.

In 1959, Marv and Tresa were married, settling together in Spokane and beginning the greatest chapter of their lives. Together they raised two daughters, Debbie and Tami, to whom Marv was a devoted and deeply caring father. In time, Marv’s vision of a life rooted in the land took shape when he and Tresa purchased three acres in Colbert, Washington. It was the next chapter he had worked toward, and one he cherished deeply.

Marv built a career with the Great Northern Railroad, which later merged into Burlington Northern, where he worked for 21 years. Ever ambitious, he also drove a school bus alongside his railroad work.

He hunted, he fished, he loved sports, and he lived for the moments shared with the people around him, the latter being perhaps his greatest calling. Marv had an extraordinary gift for people. He could walk into any room and belong there immediately, at ease with anyone and everyone. He didn’t just attend a party; he was the party. The energy arrived with him and lingered in the laughter he left behind. Those who knew him well understood a simple truth: the celebration didn’t truly start until Marv walked through the door.

Beneath all that warmth and charisma was a man with an enormous heart. Marv cared deeply for the people in his life, fiercely, quietly, and without condition. He was, above all else, a wonderful husband, a loving father, and a friend to nearly everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Marv is survived by his wife, Tresa; his daughters Debbie Gilbert and Tami Magers (Bill); his grandchildren Ali, Kyle (Tyler), and Chloe (Matt); and his great-grandchild, Carter, son of Ali. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Delores, and his brother, Les Iverson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Hospice for the compassionate care and support they provided to Marv and his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 11, 2026 from 1pm-4pm at Spokane Eagles Aerie 2 - 6410 N Lidgerwood St Spokane, WA 99208.
