Marjorie Elizabeth (Hatherell) Coon March 17, 1929 December 27, 2017 - - Midge, as she was known her entire life, was born in Butte, MT to Avis Elizabeth (Byram) and William John Hatherell. The eldest of six, as a child Midges family moved to Seattle, WA where she helped raise her siblings, graduated high school, trained as a singer and met the love of her life, Homer Ward Coon. After their marriage in 1948, the couple moved to Milwaukee, WI where Homer attended engineering school. As was her way, Midge embraced Milwaukee and made life-long friends. - - Once back in the Pacific Northwest, the couple had two daughters and Homer eventually found work at Hanford. Midge spent the next 65 years in Richland, WA successfully juggling the four pursuits dearest to her heart caring for her family, proving herself a top-notch business manager in a mans world, singing and acting as part of a local light opera company, and serving her church community. - - In 2015, she moved to Spokane, WA where she lived until passing peacefully at age 88. After her long struggle with physical challenges that left her dependent and unable to communicate well, Midge is once again free to sing. Her friends and family will never forget her voice. - - Midge is preceded in death by her most beloved husband, Homer, her parents, Avis and John, brother, Charles Hatherell, grandson, Jason Hall, dearest brother-in-law, Jack Radonski, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws of her large, extended family. - - Midge is survived by her daughters Jet (Laura Mincks) Tilley and Pamela Coon; sisters Dotty Radonski, Betty (Herb) Burnett, Myra (John) Beard and Mary Hatherell; grandchildren Elizabeth (Peter Taylor) Tilley, Chelsea (Shawn Lutz) DuVall and Ian (Mark Fairchild) DuVall; great-grandchildren Clementine and Rosemary Taylor; and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and found family friends too numerous to list. - - Midges life will be celebrated on Saturday, January 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Unity Spiritual Center, 2900 S Bernard St, Spokane, WA 99203 (509-838-6518). - - In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Midges name be sent to either Unity Spiritual Center (2900 S Bernard St, Spokane, WA 99203) or Riverview Retirement Communitys Memory Care Facility fund (1801 E Upriver Dr, Spokane, WA 99207).
