Tom Coan passed away quietly, in his sleep, early Monday morning, September 19, 2016. - He was born November 29, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana to his parents, Leo and Elvora Coan. - Tom graduated from Mt. Vernon High School in 1950. Their class motto was, "ONE STEP AT A TIME, BUT ALWAYS FORWARD.” After graduation, Tom joined the Air Force. He was honorably discharged after three years of service. He came from a large family of 3 brothers and four sisters. Unfortunately, his sister Leona died shortly after birth. After his military service, he went on to work for the United States Postal Service. He retired after 25 years of service. He had three sons, Michael, Richard, and Jeff. His middle son Richard preceded him in death. He is survived by his grandchildren, Jim, Jeffery, Jessie, Kristen, and Hailee. He has one great granddaughter, Kennedy. He wanted to be remembered by, "He was a tough ole boy !" There will be no memorial service, at his request.
