Marilyn Mauer

Marilyn Mauer, 89, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2026. She was born on March 30, 1937, in Spokane Valley, Washington, to Rudy and Evelyn Paetel.
Marilyn graduated from Central Valley High School and married her high school sweetheart, Gerald. They were married for 60 years before Gerald passed away in 2015. Together, they built a loving family and shared many wonderful years.
Marilyn also owned and operated Gooseberry Country Gift Shop, a business she was proud of and enjoyed throughout the years.
Marilyn will be lovingly remembered by her four children: Chris (John) Lubbers, Scott (Julie) Mauer, Jer (Wendy) Mauer, and Jenny (Ed) Dzedzy; 10 grandchildren; and 18
great-grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched and the family she loved so dearly.




I will always be grateful to both Muz (Marilyn) and Pops (Jerry) for their immense kindness and generosity. My younger brother, Marty, was in high school when he needed family most, and Muz and Pops stepped forward to become his anchors. Taking on the commitment of another child for four years—including his room, board, and car insurance—showed the depth of their character and their commitment to do the right thing. They gave my brother an opportunity to heal and begin life with a fighting chance. Whenever Marty despaired, Muz and Pops insisted he continue his schooling.
