Marcia Lynn Mayberry-Peters

May 04, 1955 - September 29, 2017

Marcia (Age 62) passed from this world into pure divine light on September 29th at her home in Colbert, WA. Her journey began on May 4th, 1955, born in Spokane to Lydia Mayberry and Edward Mayberry. After graduating from Lewis and Clark high school, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1977 from Eastern Washington University. Marcia began her teaching career at Evergreen Elementary. One day while walking the halls, her bright blue eyes caught the attention of middle school teacher Paul Peters. They were married in December of 1983 and were joined by their daughter Anna in 1991. In 1989, Marcia received a Masters in Education from Maharishi International University in Fairfield, Iowa. Her talent and passion for teaching continued to develop throughout her career in the classroom as Miss Marcia, most recently as a first-grade teacher at Midway Elementary from 1999-2016. She had a special talent for inspiring the love of reading and worked tirelessly to help all of her students become successful, confident people. Marcias creative spirit was apparent in her love for cooking, gardening, and art. She was always full of ideas for her next project, whether it was an addition to the garden or a handmade Christmas gift for her students. Marcia was a bright light of compassion and grace. This was never more clear than during her struggle with cancer, which she faced with strength of spirit, fierce love, and unwavering faith. She will be dearly missed. Marcia is survived by her husband Paul Peters, daughter Anna Peters, and three siblings (Marilyn Hall, Linda McNeil, and Mark Mayberry). A celebration of life will be held on October 14th at 2 pm, at Covenant Methodist Church, 15515 Gleneden, Spokane, WA 99208. In lieu of flowers, her family suggests a donation to Hospice of Spokane.
