MOM Mom was a devoted Mother. She was always loving and kind. She loved her many, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom loved her family, gardening, fishing for Walleye, Art, and everything jewelry. She loved collecting stones. Dad would say "he loved buying jewelry and Mom loved getting jewelry." Mom did it all. She raised us kids and helped build our home (literally -she did the drywall, painting, and anything else that needed to be done). Mom always had a pot of Chili or Soup on the stove for anyone stopping by, they knew they would be fed. She made the best grilled cheese. We always had a meal at the dinner table most likely made from what Mom grew from the garden. Mom was a friend to all with a calmness that put others at ease. She always had an ear to listen for family and friends. MOM & DAD On May 7th, 2021, Dad, (Charles) followed the angels to be with Mom, (Leta). Mom passed February 5th 2020. There is comfort knowing they are together again. They both graduated from Kelso High School. Mom was the popcorn girl at the theater and Dad asked her on a date to the beach. They have been together since. Their Love was special and forever. Dad would say "74 years married and 2 years of courting" with a proud smile. Mom and Dad moved to Spokane in 1949. After moving to Spokane Mom and Dad built a home on property in North Spokane. Mom and Dad were into DIY before You Tube. They would either trade skills or figure out how to do it themselves. Whether it be fixing a window or repairing the furnace neither had no fear and they figured it out. Mom and Dad raised us kids on property where we could swim, ride motorcycles, sled, and just be kids. As the last of us left home to begin our own families Dad retired from Teaching and Administration. They moved full time to Lake Roosevelt. They enjoyed chaotic summers filled with parties, lake activities and many, many grandchildren, and great grandchildren. During the winters they took 39 cruises with family and friends. Dad would plan to be home by March so Mom could start planning her garden. After twenty plus years at the Lake they moved to Spokane Valley to be closer to family. They both were loved by many family and friends who will feel a void without them. They will be missed and always remembered! The McCarthy family lost three loved ones during Covid, their passing's were not caused by Covid but added to the difficulty for their care and planning memorials for all. Our beloved Joe, (brother, Son, Father, Grandfather) lost in 1997 will be put to rest with his brother Rick.
