Lawrence Albert Meusy

September 20, 1935 - January 20, 2024

Obituary for Lawrence Albert Meusy

Lawrence "Larry" Albert Meusy, a cherished member of the Colville Indian tribe and a proud Native American, was born on September 20th, 1935, in Colville, WA, to Lawrence and Florence “Tootie” Meusy. He peacefully departed on January 20, 2024, in Spokane, WA.

Larry's life journey unfolded predominantly in Spokane, where he discovered joy in a variety of activities, including camping, gardening, and the simple pleasures of travel. A lover of animals, Larry had several pets over the years. Nature was his sanctuary, and his creativity was evident in the beautiful rock walls that adorned his family home, serving as an enduring testament to his craftsmanship.

On July 27, 1956, Larry married Earlene J. Qualls (E.J. Ferguson), embarking on a journey of love and joy that blessed them with three children: Tammy, Debbie, and Chris.

Larry's educational chapter unfolded at North Central High School in Spokane, where he graduated before embarking on life's diverse adventures. Despite life's challenges, Larry and E.J. continued their journey together until parting ways in 1988.

Preceded in death by his parents and sister Marjorie (Marnie), Larry is survived by his daughter Tammy Meusy-Taylor (Steven Taylor) of Spokane, WA, Debbie Roberts of Yakima, WA, and Chris Meusy (Jennifer Meusy) of Nine Mile Falls, WA. His heritage thrives through his grandson Aaron James (Lacy James) and grandchildren Ava Meusy, Braden Meusy, and Brinley Meusy, who proudly carry forward the family name. His great-grandchildren, Benton and Korban James of Spokane, WA, contribute to the enduring legacy of his family.

Later in life, Larry found happiness again when he married Leisa Meusy, and they spent many joy-filled years together. One highlight of their shared memories was the purchase of a fifth wheel, embarking on adventures across the United States. Larry, particularly enamored with the Oregon coast, created enduring memories exploring its beauty. His deep love for lighthouses was evident, as he enjoyed collecting lighthouses and lighthouse art.

The Meusy family held a special connection to the Colville Indian Reservation, with their favorite camping destination being Hall Creek in Inchelium, WA. It was here, surrounded by the natural beauty of the reservation, that they created enduring memories.

Larry's commitment extended beyond family; he served the community with distinction. His occupation as a bus driver for the Spokane Transit Authority sustained his family for many years before retiring. Additionally, he served honorably as a member of the National Guard, exemplifying his dedication to the well-being of his country.

Larry leaves a lasting mark on the community, remembered for his warmth, creativity, and the love he generously shared. May he rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the enduring beauty he created and the everlasting memories he leaves behind. A memorial service will be held at The Sunset Chapel at Fairmont Memorial Park on February 10, 2024 at 10:30 am. Donations can made to Horizon Hospice in lieu of flowers.
