Kathleen was born March 26, 1954, at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane Washington to Jerome and Beverly Riordan and was the middle child of five. She passed away June 15, 2026.
She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School as a child, and graduated from North Central High School in 1972. She was proud of all the jobs she worked including The Crescent Appletree, Domini Sandwiches, and Just Like Home as a nurse’s aide. She spent the bulk of her working career with Sacred Heart Medical Center in Dietary and Communications totaling 25 years.
She met her husband Monty Alexander at The Crescent in 1976 and they were married June 30, 1979, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the same church her parents were married 29 years prior. In their almost 47 years of marriage, Monty and Kathleen had two children, Laura (Alexander) Montgomery and Grant Alexander.
Kathleen had a lot of quirks that gave her character. She adored the spotlight and was known to be the life of the party. She treasured going on trips, planning and hosting events, and playing games. She enjoyed her yearly retreats to Camp Sweyolakan and gatherings with her Red Hat Society. She had a great sense of humor and a positive attitude throughout her entire life, even in her years at North Central Care Center. With a big heart, she put others before herself and tried her best to take care of the people she loved, including spoiling her grandchildren. She was constantly boasting about the achievements of her family and friends to anyone who would listen and always had a way of making you feel at ease as you could talk to her about anything. In addition to her strong faith in God, her stubbornness gave her resilience as she looked for the good in life.
She was preceded in death by her parents Jerome and Beverly and her brother Pat Riordan. She is survived by her husband, Monty Alexander, Daughter and Son-in-law, Laura and Matthew Montgomery, Son and girlfriend Grant Alexander and Ciera Langley, two grandchildren Roxanne and Hudson and her three siblings Angie Speziale, Steve (and Teri) Riordan, and Lisa Eirls.
It gave her comfort to keep in touch with family and friends. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit, write, and send her gifts.
