Jon Todd Stevenson

March 25, 1951 - September 16, 2017

Jon Stevenson MD, respected rheumatologist who dedicated his career to community service, passed away on September 16, 2017, surrounded by family in the comfort of his Rockwood home. - Jon was a remarkable man. He devoted his life and career to the research and treatment of auto-immune diseases. Over 35 years, he treated 30,000 patients and founded Arthritis Northwest, one of the largest Rheumatology practices on the west coast. He will be remembered as a caring, generous and talented practitioner who took extra time to know each patient on a personal level, putting their health and well-being in front of his own. - An avid outdoorsman and traveler, Jon loved hiking, fly-fishing and skiing in the mountains of the west. He was a skilled sailor, photographer and musician, a modern-day renaissance man. Always dedicated to his family, his greatest achievement was to provide them with happiness, health, and opportunity. - Jon was remarkably strong in the face of lifes challenges. He approached difficult situations with courage, humility and a sense of humor. During even the toughest moments, he was famous for making witty remarks that brought everyone laughter. Indeed, he was a constant reminder not to take life too seriously. - Jon was survived by his wife of 40 years, Cynthia; his three children, Peter, Charlie and Margaret; his mother, Esther; his two brothers, Mark and Paul; and his loving dog, Tucker. - The Memorial Celebration is open to the public and will be held on Friday, September 22 at 6pm at the Spokane Unitarian Universalist Church near SFCC. Memorial gifts in Jons memory can be made to St. Lukes Rehabilitation Hospital in Spokane.
