August 30, 1931 - July 19, 2017
John Hubert Tiffany passed away peacefully on July 19, 2017. John was born August 30, 1931 in Walton, NY. John will be remem-bered as a kind and caring husband, father, brother grandfather and great-grandfather. John joined the Air Force in 1951. It was while he was stationed at Fairchild AFB that he met his "Sweetie," Dorothy Skaufel. John and Dorothy were married on January 2, 1955 and were lovingly married until Dorothy's death in 2001. John later met June White, who was his loving companion until his death. John was a 60 year member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 44. John's pipefitting jobs took him to many locations throughout the state, including being present at the Hanford N Reactor dedication by JFK and the building of Boundary Dam. John and Dorothy operated Direct Mail Enterprises from 1983 until their retirement in 1994. All through his life, John was an avid fisherman and die-hard Mariners fan. One of John's favorite places to fish was Deer Lake, where the family had a summer home. John could regularly be seen with his 1960s vintage transistor radio listening to the Mariner's through thick and thin. Following their retirement, John and Dorothy travelled in their motorhome, visiting many sites and spending several winters as snowbirds in Arizona. His 1970 orange bug was a companion on all the trips, including hauling the bike around. John developed a passion for bicycle riding and walking and enjoyed time on the Centennial Trail in Spokane. His bicycle seat was custom crafted, using his plumbing background and creativity. A sight to see. John also developed a reputation as a tinkerer and whirly-jig maker; many of his treasures could be seen around his yard. June shared John's passion for the Mariners, as well as a liking for winters in Arizona. John is survived by his five children, 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren: Debbie (Mike) Pangburn, Robert, Tiffani, Diane (Doug) Campbell, Andrew, Megan, Jody (Charlie) Kronvall, Jennifer, Matt, Kevin, John Jr. (Claire) Tiffany, Katie, Nicole, Erin, and Jim (Kerry) Tiffany, Sarah, Grace. John is also survived by three brothers and one sister: Bob (Barbara) Tiffany, Ruth (Sam) Jackson, George (Billie) Tiffany, and David (Barbara) Tiffany. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John's name to the Christmas Bureau in Spokane or Friends of the Centennial Trail. A Celebration of Life will be held September 10, at the Event Center at Mirabeau Park at 1pm.
