John Nicholas Dunham was born on August 4, 1940 to Gwinn and Viola Dunham. He grew up in Lynden, WA along with brothers Gwinn Jr., Chuck and sister Doris. After high school John attended Multnomah Bible School for a semester before enrolling in the US Army and serving in Germany. After leaving the service he met Margaret Brownlee while working at Kings Gardens Christian radio station in Seattle. The two were married in July of 1965 and had son, Jeff. Mari passed away during her second pregnancy in August 1968. John had settled in Spokane where he met Barbara Barrick McMacken, a recent widow with two boys, Carl and Wayne. They were married in September 1970 and completed the family with daughter Michelle. John spent most of his life in the retail industry. He was a co-owner in a clothing store. Following that he worked at Harveys, Radio Shack, K-Mart and Sears. John loved music, especially Gospel, and was very active in the music program at Valley Fourth Church. His love for God also was demonstrated in his involvement in the Gideons ministry of placing Bibles in hotel rooms. John passed away January 8 at his home in Spokane Valley. He loved his family and is survived by his wife Barbara, 4 children Jeff, Carl, Wayne and Michelle, and 9 grandchildren. A service of Remembrance will be held on Saturday January 20th at 1PM at Valley Fourth Church 2303 S Bowdish Rd, Spokane, WA 99206. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Johns name can be made to Hospice of Spokane, PO Box 2215 Spokane, WA 99210, or The American Cancer Society.
