Jerry Michael Martin passed away peacefully May 5, 2018 with his friend Carolyn Lanes at his side. Jerry was born September 22, 1946 in Cutbank, Montana. He grew up in Spokane Valley, WA and graduated from Central Valley High School in 1965. - In 1974 Jerry took over the family business, Greenacres Dry Cleaners, in Greenacres, Washington. He continued to own and operate the business until 2018. Jerry was an artist at his craft, and brought a great deal of joy to his customers through the meticulous cleaning of their clothes. He was once “The Mayor of Greenacres,” fondly dubbed this name because of his strong leadership skills and many activities involving the Greenacres Shopping Center. Jerry was a member of the Dukes Auto Club and enjoyed working on and restoring antique cars. He sold doughnuts as a boy peddling from house to house on his bicycle to earn the money to purchase his first “model A” Car. Jerry enjoyed boating, snow skiing, golfing, working in the yard, and “tinkering.” - Jerry and Sally Starr married in 1978. He is survived by his two sons, Jerry Martin Jr., and James Martin, his brother Reg Martin, and sister JoAnne Burke, as well as nephews and nieces, and numerous friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Elda Martin and sister Marilyn Martin. - A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at 2:00 PM at Thornhill Valley Chapel, 1400 South Pines Road, Spokane Valley, WA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
