March 10, 1946 - April 28, 2022
Jerry Lee Eccles passed away on April 28, 2022, in Spokane, Washington. He is survived by his 4 children Mark, Leona (Mike), Tammy, and Robert. Five grandchildren, Kimberly (Robert), Michael, Robbie, and Aden. He is also survived by 2 sisters: Peggy & Ruth, and many nieces and nephews. Jerry lived much of his life in Spokane Valley and Spokane, where he raised his family with his then wife Emma (passed away in 2015). Jerry worked many years as a delivery driver before retiring due to health issues. Jerry didn’t sit still for long, he enjoyed yard work, fishing, camping and meeting friends for coffee frequently. In the summer evenings Jerry was likely found out in the yard watering the lawn by hand, he enjoyed visiting with neighbors over the fence. He also enjoyed a good water fight with his children and family members that stopped by and would inadvertently get brought into the water fight. Jerry could also be found wrestling in the yard with his children often. When grandchildren started coming along he also enjoyed teasing and pranking them. Jerry loved to laugh and tell jokes, he found a partner in the crime with his son-in-law Mike (passed in 2005), the two played off each other well and had a great time together. In Jerry’s later years he grew fond of wearing suspenders, as he would say… because he had no hips to hold his pants, and found a pair that was covered in the American flag, he wore those daily. Jerry also had his little doggie, Duke, yes... named after his movie star hero John Wayne. He often drove his kids crazy by re-watching every Duke movie. He could tell you just every line in any John Wayne movie. He also collected every book written by his favorite cowboy writer, Louis Lamour, of which he could tell you every part of any of those books. Jerry was a fun-loving man; he enjoyed the company of others to laugh and talk about the old days. He will be deeply missed.
