Jean Ann Place

Updated: Jan 25

December 23, 1935 - May 31, 2023

Our precious mother, Jean Ann (Brunner) Place, 87 passed away at home peacefully on May 31, 2023. Born in St Louis, MO. Jean was the daughter of the late Walter and Antoinette Brunner. She is survived by her 5 children, Carole (Place) Cummings, Michael Place, Margit (Place) Gagnon, Marie (Place) Shanks and Antoinette Place, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Jean was strong and smart and loved her children furiously. She was a fabulous cook, gardener and wasn't afraid to work hard. She loved to travel and over the course of her life she resided in several states including California, Washington, Connecticut and New Hampshire. It was always a dream of Jean's to become a nurse, so in her 40's, after having children she enrolled in the nursing program at Eastern Washington University graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing. Jean worked as a Registered Nurse at Deaconess Hospital where she then specialized as a Certified Rehabilitation Nurse (CRRN) and then at St. Luke's Rehabilitation Center where she received her certification as an Infection Control Nurse (CIC). Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Special thank you to Hospice of Spokane South for making our Mother’s passing peaceful. Instead of flowers, we are asking that donation be made to Hospice of Spokane South.
