Jean Hinchliff, 97, of Spokane, peacefully passed away at Aging Well Adult Family Home.
Born in London, England, her family moved to Peterborough, England when she was three years old.
She completed high school in Peterborough during World War II. She met Harold H Hinchliff in Peterborough when he was stationed at RAF Alconbury. They married on January 15, 1946 in Peterborough.
Jean came to the United States on a Troup ship along with other British war brides. Landing in New York City, she then took a train to Spokane where Harold met her. Jean loved Spokane and the United States. She became a citizen in 1955. She lived in Spokane for 75 years.
Jean loved animals. She especially loved dogs.
Jean worked at Washington Trust Bank for 20 years. When she retired in 1992, worked part-time in grocery stores demonstrating food products. At one demonstration she was selling German Sausage. She had a little slip up and asked the customer if she would like to try some German Shephard sausage! Jean laughed for years over that little incident. Loving to meet and help people, she soon became a volunteer at Cancer Care Northwest. Jean loved everyone! Her playful demeanor won her many friends and acquaintances.
Jean is survived by two daughters, Barbara and Cheryl (Bob), two granddaughters, Silvia and Janine (Dan).
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold, her parents Berty and Gladys, and her daughter, Susan.
