January 13, 1935 - October 08, 2021
James peacefully passed away in his sleep on October 8th in Spokane Valley, WA at the age of 86. Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was born in 1935 to George and Agnes Heinen in Chewelah, WA. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother (William), 3 sisters (Margaret, Rosemary, Kathleen), and a terrific son (Craig). He is survived by his wife Carol, sons Steven (Jan) and David, 5 grandchildren, Chris (Erin), Jayme (Matt), Lindi, Rachel (Brett), and Janell (Jake), and 5 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Craig, Gracie June, Brayden James, and Cora. Jim lived most all his years in the Spokane Valley. He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1953. He married his wife Carol, of 65 years, in 1956. Jim worked in the automotive business for over 45 years at McCollum Ford and later for Wendle Motors where he retired in 2000. He loved his family immensely and enjoyed being involved in their activities and watching them participate in sports. He was always more than willing to share his knowledge and expertise in helping family, friends, or neighbors with small or difficult projects. Dad and Mom loved to travel later in life. They were able to see the sights in Washington DC, including a grand tour of the White House, exploring New York City, Mt Rushmore, Hawaii, Canada, Tombstone Arizona, and one of the favorites Scottsdale Arizona. Jim also enjoyed boating, camping and cherished the special times at their cabin on the Pend Oreille River. There he loved to barbeque, roast s’mores, play games, and pull all the kids on skis and tubes. Jim had many close and special friends that he treasured. We all will cherish his memory and will love him forever! Jim will be interred at Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.
