Jim was born in Woodstock Illinois to Betty J. (Camp) and Ralph G. Lippold. Brother Robert G. Lippold. He attended Northern Illinois University for 2 years and became a Conscientious Objector during the Vietnam war where he served 2 years of civilian service in 1969. That led to his founding the Woodstock Youth Center Association, Inc. He married his childhood sweetheart, Sharon Polizzi before moving to Boulder Colorado where he worked at the Colorado Psychiatric Hospital. He earned a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science. His marriage to Sharon ended during this time. In 1988, he married Lis Clemmons and moved to Spokane Washington. He graduated from Eastern Washington University with a Masters degree in Social Work. He was executive director at Lincoln County Community Mental Health Center for 11 years. He taught graduate classes for 12 years during which time, his marriage to Lisa ended. He later worked as executive director at Providence Health Care’s Adult Day Health program. After working there eleven years, he retired in 2012.
