Jacqui Halvorson went to be with the Lord on April 10, 2026, in Spokane, Washington, at the age of 69. Born on August 28, 1956, in Fargo, North Dakota, she was the treasured daughter of Norwegian parents, Phyllis and Roald Halvorson.

Growing up in Spokane, Jacqui graduated from Lewis and Clark High School in 1974. She pursued higher education at Western Washington University and Eastern Washington University, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Urban and Regional Planning. Throughout her career, she held various roles, including assistant manager at the Museum of History and Industry, sales associate at Nordstrom, planner at David Evans and Associates, environmental planner at URS Corporation, and urban planner for the City of Spokane. Her professional achievements included recognition of her work on the Spokane International Airport runway project and receiving an Appreciation Award for her dedication and contributions to the Final Environmental Impact Statement and Endangered Species Act Consultation for the I-90 Snoqualmie Pass East Project.

Jacqui was an early and dedicated member of Spokane Preservation Advocates (SPA), an organization committed to protecting Spokane’s historic properties. Her leadership roles included serving as Vice President for two years, President for two years, and Past President for another two years. She also chaired the SPA Annual Historic Awards Ceremony committee for eight years and served as a house chair for the annual SPA Tour of Historic Homes for many years, all showcasing her passion for historic preservation.

Jacqui treasured her role as a mom to her son, Corbet, and supported him faithfully with her love and encouraging presence. She delighted in sharing holiday traditions and everyday moments with him, and their bond was a source of joy to them both. She also faithfully and tenderly cared for her aging parents, encouraging them through life’s challenges with her steadfast love.

She was proud of her Norwegian heritage and loved creating memorable moments with loved ones. Family gatherings were often marked by her warm hospitality and the traditional Norwegian treats and cookies she lovingly prepared, especially for the happiest celebrations like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

At a recent family reunion, Jacqui’s fun-loving presence and beauty shone. She wore a beautifully sewn bunad, the traditional Norwegian dress, which she skillfully crafted herself. She was also happy to celebrate her heritage by attending Sons of Norway and Daughters of Norway events. At the Freya Daughters of Norway Lodge, she served as Cultural Director for two years.

Jacqui was often the first to volunteer, whether helping at family celebrations, lending a hand at showers and gatherings, or quietly stepping in wherever needed. Jacqui loved organizing meaningful gatherings by bringing family and community together. One treasured memory included a Norwegian concert at her parents’ church, where her cousins sang.

Some of the happiest memories and conversations shared with Jacqui were spent on the beach, enjoying the beauty of God’s creation on Lake Coeur d’Alene. Jacqui’s faith in the Lord was a source of strength and stability through both the joys and challenges in her life. May her example and trust in the Lord inspire and encourage our hearts as we remember her.

Jacqui is lovingly remembered by her son, Corbet Abrahamson, her many relatives, and dear friends who were blessed by her encouragement and kindness. She was preceded in death by her parents, Phyllis and Roald Halvorson, and her brother, Brad Halvorson. She is survived by her sister, Stephanie Gates, and her brother, Rod Halvorson.

Donations may be made in Jacqui’s honor to help cover memorial expenses. Checks can be made out to Tina Rodeen, and mailed to Jacqui Halvorson, 3417 S Division St., Spokane, WA  99203. Thanks to all who offered love, support, and cherished memories during this difficult time.
