Hal Dwayne Chapman was a caring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend. He was called home to heaven after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer on April 3, 2024 at age 53.
As a child, Hal began his lifelong love for the outdoors and spent endless hours hunting, fishing, and camping. Always active, Hal ran track and began boxing in his late teens, proud of his accomplishments under coach and professional boxer, Harvey Steichen. Hal also had a love for music that was seen in choir and later, concerts where he met his wife, Shannon. Together they had 3 children: Kaitlyn, Madison, and Colby.
Hal was known by all who met him as a great storyteller with an appreciation for life. After ending his work as a Train Conductor, Hal found joy in many interests and hobbies, always finding a community that loved him. He enjoyed collecting antiques and pieces from his childhood. He also became a grill master, experimenting with difference spices and recipes and hosting crab boils for his friends and family.
Hal will be remembered for his humor, grit, friendly nature, and fighting spirit. Hal greatly valued his family and deeply loved his wife, children, and grandchildren.
A memorial will be held for Hal on May 4th from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Fairmount Memorial Park Sunset Chapel located at 5200 W Wellesley Spokane, WA 99202.
