Geri Lynn Smyd, 67, passed away surrounded by her loved ones December 7th after her long battle with cancer. She was an adored mother, partner, sister, daughter and friend. The youngest of three children, she was born to Genelle Worden and Milton Smyd in 1957. Geri was born in La Mesa, California, and lived there most of her childhood. She grew up alongside her loving sister Lynda Garbner and a kind-hearted brother Milty Smyd who both married and had families of their own. The family then moved to Eugene, Oregon and then finally settled in Spokane, Washington in 1977. She attended dental assistant school and was certified as a dental assistant and started her career working for Dr. Layne Hinckley and continued to work in the same office for 44 years. In 1981 she married Thomas Arambul and they welcomed three loving children, adding Kimberly that September, Alise in 1984 and Holly in 1985. She was always family-oriented, and when she joined the Arambul family she gained 10 new brothers and sisters along with their children. Although her first marriage ended in divorce, she would forever consider them family because they all had a place in her heart. In 1999 she met Michael Jones, and he stood by her side until her last breath, loving her more than words could express. With him, he brought along two sons, Steve Jones and Jeffrey Jones with their families, and he gave her more family to love. In her younger years, she enjoyed going fishing and camping with her grandmother, Esther Wright. She continued this tradition with Michael, usually catching the most and biggest fish wherever they went. She loved going on her annual trip to the Oregon coast or a weekend get away with her bestie. Her all-time favorite thing to do was spend time with her three girls, their spouses and her grandchildren. They were always her first priority and she always made sure they knew how proud she was of them. She never missed any major events or milestones, and was front and center for it all, showing her love and support. Geri was the embodiment of an angel on earth, loving and accepting everyone around her. She was always happy to help others, especially when they were down. Her smile and warm embrace could melt worries away, her encouraging words could show people the bright side of a situation and she had a way of bringing peace when all that could be seen was chaos. The love, compassion, acceptance, and devotion she had for others never went unnoticed but it sure will be missed. Geri was preceded in death by her father Milton Smyd and is survived by her mother Genelle Worden; Significant other Mike; Daughters, Kimberly, Alise and Holly; Son-in-laws, Anthony and Travis; Grandchildren, Lily, Dillon, Parker, Kendell and Carter; siblings and many other close family members. Geri's celebration of life will be held at the Sullivan Valley Commons-Burbity Event Center, located at 2818 N Sullivan Rd, Spokane Valley, WA on Saturday, January 11, 2025. This open house event will be from 2:00 to 4:30pm to honor Geri's amazing life and encourage friends and family to share their memories of her. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in her name and continue to spread the joy and love she did every day.

Geri was truly a gift to us all. We all lost another super person way too soon. Time will heal the hurt but her memory will never leave us. So glad you are out of pain Geri but we will miss you until we meet again. God bless.

I can't even describe the sadness I feel, so I can only imagine the grief the rest of the family is going through. Her beautiful smile and positive spirit will never be forgotten. I loved her dearly. My deepest condolences.
