Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Freda King and Roy Fagin, Jerry played as an All-City lineman at Western Hills High School and later played football in that same position at Ohio University. He went on to serve 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, working in surveillance technology and as a survival instructor—roles that gave him the stories he loved to share for the rest of his life.
After retiring from the military in 1979, Jerry enjoyed a second career designing underground sprinkler systems for do-it-yourself homeowners.
In 1960, he met and married his sweetheart, Carol Ann Drake of Glouster, Ohio. They shared 49 years of marriage until her passing in 2009. Jerry was a devoted father who especially cherished teaching his son, Terry, to fish, handle a boat, and love the outdoors. He remained a loyal sports fan, cheering on Zags basketball and Ohio State football.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; his parents Roy and Freda; and his older brothers, Bob and Bill. He is survived by his son, Terry (Teresa), and his grandchildren, Brittany (Kody) and Charlie.
Per his wishes, no service will be held. Jerry is laid to rest beside his beloved wife Carol at Greenwood Cemetery in Spokane.
