George Meier

May 14, 1946 - December 04, 2017

George Henry Meier (Age 71) - George Henry Meier was born May 14, 1946, to George Thomas and Pearl Vanita Meier at their family home in Morgan Acres, Spokane, WA. George H. passed away peacefully on December 4, 2017, at Hospice House of Spokane after a 3-week battle with cancer. George was a 1964 graduate of Rogers High School, Spokane. He married his beautiful bride Sharon (Greenwald), on June 18, 1966. For the first two years of their marriage George served in the U.S. Army. In 1970, their first daughter, Lori (Meier) Olson (Liberty Lake, WA) was born followed by their youngest daughter, Lisa (Meier) Vigil (Spanaway, WA) in 1972. They raised their family in the Ponderosa area (Spokane Valley). George had a servant's heart that stemmed from his deep personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He found true joy in serving his family, church, community and friends. George was involved with the Lilac Festival Association for 30+ years, a member of Valley Assembly of God, and a lifelong goldsmith/gemologist/master jeweler/appraiser. George knew how to create treasures on earth with precious metals and genuine stones, but also laid up for himself treasures in heaven with how he lived his life on earth. He demonstrated and passed on a strong faith in Jesus Christ and his desire would be that everyone he knew would come to know Jesus Christ as their personal savior as he did. He awaits us all in heaven. Aside from his treasured wife, daughters and sons-in-law, Jerrol Olson (Liberty Lake, WA) and Paul Vigil (Spanaway, WA), some of his greatest joys were his 6 grandchildren and new grand-son-in-law; Karissa (Olson) and Jonathan Altmeyer, Alise Olson, his twin grandsons, Connor and Evan Olson, and Bethany and Brenna Vigil. George is survived by his wife of 51 years, his two daughters, their husbands, his grandchildren, his sister, Lois (husband Chuck) Long of Spokane, his brothers Burton (wife Gretta) of Lake Stevens, WA, and Darrell (wife Robin) of the Spokane Valley along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, by his parents and brothers Gaylord, Leonard, Roland and Lawrence. A private family burial will be held on December 22nd, at 3:00 PM at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA. An open Memorial Dessert Celebration will be held on Friday, December 22, 2017, at 7:00 PM in the multipurpose room at Valley Assembly of God, 15618 E. Broadway, Spokane Valley, WA 99037. There will be a short program at 7:30 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to donate to the Rural America Ministries Network (R.A.M.). Donations can be made to Valley Assembly of God in George's name (address above).
