Gayle Buchanan Shaffner

June 18, 1938 - November 10, 2015

Gayle Buchanan Shaffner, (Age 77) Gayle Shaffner of Spokane, WA, passed away on Tuesday November 10, 2015, at Sacred Heart Medical Center. She was born on June 18, 1938 to Robert and Mneatha Buchanan in Middlefield, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her son, Robert Springer and he daughter Patricia Schonauer. Surviving are her beloved husband, Byron James Shaffner; sister, Jean Ann Adamic, of Burton, Ohio; daughters, Janis Lynn Davidson, of Yakima, and Belinda Mae Langford, of Spokane; five grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Gayle was employed by Boeing North American, in Anaheim California, for 34 years. Her hobbies included reading, cooking, gardening and she was an avid sports fan. Gayle had a passion for history and frequently traveled to some of nation’s national landmarks and museums. She also enjoyed country music and would occasionally attend a live concert. One of Gayle’s favorite things to do would be to spontaneously call her granddaughter Cassie for a shopping trip and lunch date. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist church in Spokane Valley. Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday November 14, 2015 at South Pines Cemetery in Spokane Valley.
