Gayle Amanda Higgins, 79, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family on August 21, 2026 from complications of Parkinsons Disease. Gayle was born on August 2, 1947 to LeRoy (Roy) and Gayle Ross in Spokane.

Gayle graduated from North Central High School in 1965, and later that year married her high school sweetheart Kent E. Higgins.  Prior to graduation she worked for Lerner's Company in downtown Spokane.  This position allowed her to work part time while raising her two children, Kimberly and Kent Scott. After 12 years she moved to a career in banking, starting as a teller and working various positions throughout the next 30 years starting at Equitable Savings and Loan.

Gayle was a member of Beta Sigma Phi International ('67-'78) where she met many lifelong friends and completed various service projects and worked with community associations through volunteering. She was an avid reader, loved to travel, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. There were many weekends spent at Loon Lake, Hayden Lake, and Priest Lake. Later in life she enjoyed watching Seattle Seahawks, WSU Football, Gonzaga Men's and Women's Basketball.

Gayle is survived by her spouse, Kent E. Higgins; daughter Kim (Dennis) Gamache; son Kent S. (Theresa) Higgins; grandchildren Natashea and Cheyenne; and her brother Robert (Bob) Ross. She was preceded in death by her sisters Glee Hollander, Kayte Ross, and Naomi Kimball.

Please join us on Monday, October 19, 2026 at 11 AM at Sunset Chapel, Fairmont Memorial Park, 5200 W Wellesley Ave to Celebrate Gayle's life. Encourage all to wear their favorite sports attire. Reception to follow at separate location to be announced at the service.
