June 14, 1944 - November 08, 2016

McMACKIN, - Gary Lee Gary Lee McMackin, 72, peacefully passed away and joined the Lord on November 8, 2016 at his home in Spokane, WA. - Gary was born in Spokane, WA on June 14, 1944. - He graduated from John R. Rogers High School in 1963 and went on to join the U.S Navy where he was stationed in Saigon, The Pentagon and Italy and other numerous places until he retired in 1983 as a Chief Petty Officer. He then went on to retire from Civil Service in 2009 from Fairchild Air Force Base. Gary always enjoyed his early morning walks at the mall and drinking his daily coffee. He loved going to the movies. He enjoyed rooting for the local basketball team "GO ZAGS". He loved his grandchildren more than words can describe. He was always the life of the party at family BBQs and all other family get togethers. He would always show up at your house, even if it was just for a few minutes to say "Hi" and see how you are doing, no matter where you lived in town. Gary is survived by his six children: daughters, Tammy Page (Pat), Kathy Battjer (Ken), Teresa McCullough (Don), Michaell Culianan (Joe) and sons, Robert McMackin (Vicki) and Shaun McMackin (Tammy), 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, three brothers, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Gary is preceded in death by his father, Robert McMackin and his mother, Ruth McMackin. Also a big - "Thank You" to his niece, Wendy McMackin for taking care of him the last few months of his life. The family would like to especially thank Jayden Crawford for all of the time, love and attention he gave. I know he really appreciated and will forever be grateful. A small service for close family and friends will be held on Friday, November 18th, 2016 at 1:30pm at the Washington State Veteran's Cemetery, in Medical Lake, WA.
