Passed peacefully from a brief illness on Friday, May 9, 2014. He was born to Michael Mauro and Jennie Blanca on October 15, 1917 at 2817 N Lee St, Spokane, WA. Frank attended Bemiss Elementary and Gonzaga Prep. After leaving Gonzaga Prep he moved to Seattle where he worked for Boeing before he joined the Army. While serving in the Army during WWII, Frank drove and worked on trucks. After leaving the Army with an honorable discharge he moved back to Spokane where he drove cab. After several years of driving cab he changed his career to driving truck, which he did for well over 30 years and retired from Layrite after working there for 25 years. Frank had been residing with his daughter Peggie Rogers at her home in Spokane, WA for 13 years. Frank is preceded in death by his son Tim Mauro, wife Cecilia â??Babeâ? Mauro and all other family members except nieces and nephews. He is survived by his daughters Peggie Rogers at the home and Fredia (Orvall) Price; sons Joe and Lee Mauro; stepson Dennis Howard; 20 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 29 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Frank was loved by many. He was a jokester, coached baseball in Kelso, WA, was an avid gardener, cribbage player, and spent time with his family. There will be a memorial service held at 11:00 am on Monday, May 19, 2014 at the Sunset Chapel, Fairmount Memorial Park, 5200 W. Wellesley, Spokane. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Hospice of Spokane, P.O. Box 2215, Spokane, WA 99210.
